Job Summary


We are a family-run company seeking a skilled, experienced, and motivated Workshop Manager. The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) mechanic with a Class 2 driving license. The role involves overseeing our workshop operations, combining technical expertise with strong leadership skills to ensure the efficient maintenance, repair, and servicing of our fleet vehicles. The successful candidate will also manage workshop staff and uphold high safety and quality standards.

This role requires a hands-on approach to managing workshop activities, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards. The Workshop Manager will also be responsible for maintaining equipment, including MOT preparation, providing excellent customer service, and leading a team of technicians.

Duties



Supervise daily workshop operations, ensuring timely and effective maintenance and repairs of HGVs and MOT preparation. Conduct and oversee diagnostic inspections, repairs, and servicing in accordance with industry standards and manufacturer guidelines. Manage workshop scheduling, resource allocation, and parts inventory to optimise productivity. Ensure all work complies with Health and Safety regulations and company policies. Lead, train, and motivate workshop technicians and apprentice staff. Maintain accurate records of repairs, services, and vehicle histories. Drive company vehicles as needed for operational purposes, including deliveries and vehicle inspection. Liaise with customers, suppliers, and management to coordinate work and provide excellent customer service. Monitor workshop performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Stay current with industry developments, technical advancements, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications



Fully qualified HGV mechanic. Valid Class 2 HGV driving licence. Proven experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, preferably within a commercial fleet environment. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic abilities. Good organisational and time-management skills. Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to vehicle workshops. Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities. Effective communication skills.
