Summary - basic function of the role
We are looking for a Workshop Supervisor to join our team on-site in Aberdeen. This hands-on role is essential to supporting daily operations, leading our workshop team, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. Duties and Responsibilities
Lead and motivate workshop teams, setting daily/weekly objectives and aligning performance with site goals
Run daily toolbox talks and communicate clear priorities to the team
Act as the bridge between workshop and operations, escalating quality, cost, and delivery concerns
Drive a proactive, process-focused safety culture with ongoing improvements
Oversee tool calibration, testing, certification, and maintenance
Fulfil and support rental orders, maintaining equipment readiness
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical tools and systems
Manage inventory for repair parts, creating purchase requests where needed
Monitor and control costs including overtime, repairs, and freight
Coordinate with on-site contractors and ensure permits and site procedures are followed
Promote use of operational tools and systems (OSHENS, MES, Qualytize, etc.)
Support custom and cross-functional projects, communicating updates and roadblocks
Champion continuous improvement across all workshop processes
Support development plans and performance conversations with direct reports
Lead and document annual performance reviews
Ensure effective holiday/absence cover and share key skills across the team
Provide KPIs and site data to senior leaders
Perform driving duties and participate in the on-call rotation (occasional evenings/weekends)
Complete training for forklift or other relevant certifications as needed
Education and Experience
A proactive, hands-on leadership style with strong team coordination skills
Mechanical or engineering experience in a production or service environment
Familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle, ASCP/MRP preferred) and Microsoft Office
Strong organisation, prioritisation, and communication skills
Valid UK driving licence
Confidence in managing multiple priorities and solving problems under pressure
Experience with MRP planning, site maintenance, and safety processes
Exposure to LEAN or continuous improvement tools (LEAD techniques welcomed)
