The Workshop Supervisor reports directly to the Workshop Manager and will be responsible for providing engineering support to his team. This role encompasses all engineering-related duties to ensure the garage operates smoothly and efficiently on a day-to-day basis. They will support their shift engineers and provide guidance in making sound decisions that minimise mechanical lost mileage.
Main Responsibilities
Oversee the team planning and prioritising work and delegating tasks.
Identify and order spare parts, ensuring delegated tasks can be completed.
Oversee the team to ensure efficient workflow management.
Oversee the team to ensure quality and high-repair standards.
Oversee the team to ensure that repair procedures are followed.
Carry out quality checks and record them in the appropriate location.
Ensure the team understand technical bulletins and the use of diagnostic equipment.
Checks and manages workshop equipment and tools in line with repair procedures.
Oversee the team to ensure engineering hygiene and cleanliness.
Is the first-line Supervisor between engineers and the Workshop Manager.
Notify the Workshop Manager of any additional faults or necessary repairs.
Escalate technical issues to the workshop manager as appropriate.
Promotes and supervises SHEQ.
Completes all paperwork/Digital content in line with legal requirements.
Attend internal and external training sessions as required.
Foster productive working relationships with our customers.
Be prepared to take hands-on approach when required.
Essential Criteria
NVQ3 or equivalent in relevant trade discipline.
Understanding of O Licence requirement.
Experience of mandatory, legal paperwork associated with bus operations in the London environment.
Competencies & Skills
Must be able to demonstrate credibility to build professional relationships with their team and managers.
Discreet when managing confidential matters.
Able to build lasting relationships with internal customers.
An understanding/appreciation of the service requirements and the management of day-to-day operational issues.
Must be a team player and willing to develop others to increase team and individual performance.
Hours of work
40 hours per week, 7-4-7-3 shift pattern
