Job Summary


We're looking for a highly organised, proactive, and enthusiastic individual to lead and develop our wraparound childcare and holiday course provision across partner schools in Essex. This role combines operational leadership with creative planning ensuring our setting and courses are safe, engaging, and delivered to the highest standards of Primary Education.

As Setting Lead, you will oversee the day-to-day running of your designated site, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment that supports children's wellbeing, development, and enjoyment. You will take responsibility for delivering high quality after-school provision, managing staff, safeguarding and risk management, maintaining food hygiene standards, and ensuring a smooth, high-quality provision that meets both internal and regulatory requirements such as Ofsted

A key part of the role will be to plan, organise, and promote fun-filled Holiday Courses during school breaks. You'll be confident in designing and delivering engaging activities, supporting coaches, and building strong relationships with parents and local schools to encourage participation. Collaborating with our marketing team, you will also help promote our programmes through community links and social media, ensuring each course reaches full capacity.

The ideal candidate will have experience in sports coaching, childcare, or education, with excellent organisational and communication skills, a passion for working with children, and a positive, can-do attitude.

Key Responsibilities



1. Setting-Specific Management & Delivery



Individual Setting Oversight:

Manage daily operations in your wraparound care setting, ensuring safety protocols are followed and high-quality care is delivered to children.

Team Management:

Lead and mentor a team of play leaders, ensuring all members understand guidelines, operational procedures, and Primary Education's core values.

After-School Club and Wraparound Timetable:

Create, deliver, and monitor after-school club and Wraparound childcare timetables, ensuring activities are delivered to a high standard and all staff follow the schedule. Actively update the service to ensure it meets child and parent demands

Setting Point of Contact:

Act as the designated point of contact on behalf of Primary Education for your designated setting. This includes liaising with parents, coordinating and delivering parent assemblies and serving as a point of contact for existing school staff/colleagues.

Setting Cleanliness:

Ensure the setting is regularly cleaned and maintained to provide a safe, welcoming environment.

Cover Sheet Management:

Regularly update and maintain the cover sheet to reflect current staffing, schedules, and other relevant information.

2. Risk Assessment Management and Monitoring



Regular Updates:

Review and update risk assessments specific to your setting to reflect changes in conditions, equipment, or activities.

Team Sign-Off:

Ensure all team members review and sign current risk assessments.

Hazard Identification:

Quickly identify potential hazards and apply control measures to protect children and staff.

3. Adherence to Food Hygiene Standards



Food Safety Compliance:

Follow all food hygiene regulations to maintain a 5-star rating.

Hygiene Protocols:

Implement hygiene procedures for preparing and serving simple foods (e.g., cereals, toast, sandwiches).

Managing Food Orders:

Oversee food orders to meet dietary requirements and maintain high standards.

Daily Monitoring:

Conduct daily checks on food storage, fridge levels, and cleaning standards in preparation and serving areas.

4. Compliance and Quality Assurance



Ofsted and Health Compliance:

Ensure the setting meets Ofsted and health & safety requirements, including safeguarding and risk management.

Ofsted Board Maintenance:

Regularly update and maintain the Ofsted board to meet compliance standards.

Quality Checks:

Perform regular checks to ensure activity quality, child safety, and team performance align with Primary Education standards.

5. Child Safety and Medical Management



Allergy and Medical Records:

Ensure all children with allergies, dietary requirements, or medical needs have completed and up-to-date forms.

Medication Access:

Maintain safe and accessible storage for all child-specific medications.

First Aid Kit Management:

Regularly check and replenish the first aid kit, ensuring it meets all safety standards.

6. Weekly and Term-End Reviews



Weekly Settings Form Completion:

Complete weekly forms confirming adherence to activity timetables, safeguarding, food hygiene, and attendance. Note challenges, successes, and observations

End-of-Term Reviews:

Conduct end-of-term reviews to evaluate performance, gather feedback, and implement improvements.

7. Mentorship and Professional Development



Team Mentorship:

Mentor your team in best practices for risk management, food hygiene, and operational standards.

Professional Growth:

Support staff development to maintain high care standards and ensure alignment with Primary Education's expectations.

8. Holiday Course Planning & Delivery



Planning & Delivery:

Plan, organise, and deliver all Holiday Course sessions across multiple locations, ensuring children have safe, fun, and engaging experiences. Serve as the point of contact for parents and existing setting partners.

Scheduling & Activity Development:

Develop creative activities, themes, tournaments, and games, including prizes, to maximise participation and enjoyment.

Staff Coordination:

Ensure the correct staffing levels for each course and provide support and guidance to team members.

Venues and Suppliers:

Liaise with venues, suppliers, and partners to ensure rewards, equipment, and resources are prepared.

Marketing Collaboration:

Work with the marketing team to plan course promotion, including leaflets, social media, email campaigns, and website content.

Creative Programme Design:

Develop engaging activities, themes, competitions, and prizes for children.

Post-Course Reporting:

Write detailed reports, providing feedback, recognition, and support for staff development.

Business Growth:

Research competitors and explore new Holiday Courses and locations to support strategic growth.

Role Model:

Act as a positive role model for staff, modelling excellent delivery and professional behaviour.

Qualifications



Level 2 or 3 qualification in Education, Childcare, Sports Coaching, or a related field -
