Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and organised to oversee the day-to-day management of our yard and stores operations at DT Hughes Group. The successful candidate will ensure all plant, tools, and materials are correctly received, issued, maintained, and recorded to support efficient operational delivery across the business. Flexibility is essential, as occasional weekend work will be required to meet project and business demands.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily yard and stores operations, ensuring all assets, equipment, and materials are accounted for and in good working order.
Manage the booking in/out process for all plant, tools, and consumables, maintaining accurate stock and asset records.
Conduct regular stock checks, report discrepancies, and support procurement and replenishment activities.
Assist with the coordination of equipment servicing, repairs, and inspections in line with company procedures.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised yard and stores environment, ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental policies.
Support the movement, loading, and unloading of equipment and materials as required.
Liaise with operational teams to ensure timely availability and return of equipment and materials.
Use computer systems to update stock levels, produce reports, and track asset movements.
Support weekend operations when required, ensuring continuity of service and operational readiness.
Skills and Experience Required
Previous experience in a yard, stores, or logistics coordination role (construction or civil engineering environment preferred).
Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
Good understanding of stock control and asset management processes.
Computer literate with experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, and stock or asset tracking systems.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a practical and hands-on approach.
Forklift or telehandler experience (desirable but not essential).
Full UK driving licence.
