About the Role:

We are seeking a reliable, organised, and experienced

Yard Operative/Manager

to oversee the daily operations of our scaffolding yard. You will be responsible for the efficient running of the yard, including the storage, maintenance, and dispatch of scaffolding materials. This hands-on role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a keen focus on safety and productivity.

A

forklift licence

is desirable for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

Loading and unloading of multiple scaffolding trucks ready for next day. Manage the daily operations of the scaffolding yard, ensuring a clean, safe, and organised working environment. Supervise yard operatives (if applicable) and coordinate workloads effectively. Receive, inspect, sort, and store scaffolding materials and equipment correctly. Maintain accurate stock control and assist with inventory checks and audits. Ensure the timely and accurate picking, loading, and dispatch of scaffolding equipment to and from sites. Liaise with site teams, transport coordinators, and office staff regarding deliveries and returns. Conduct basic maintenance and inspections of scaffolding equipment, ensuring damaged items are quarantined and reported. Enforce and promote health & safety procedures in line with company policies and legal obligations. Operate a forklift truck to move and organise materials within the yard (where licenced). Keep detailed records of yard activities, including equipment movement logs and delivery paperwork. Support training and onboarding of new yard staff as required.

Skills & Experience Required:

Experience working in a scaffolding, construction, or similar yard environment. Knowledge of scaffolding materials and basic understanding of their use. Proven ability to manage or supervise a small team (for Yard Manager roles). Strong organisational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and take initiative. A valid forklift truck licence is desirable. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Basic IT literacy for stock and delivery recordkeeping (training can be provided). Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling duties.

Qualifications & Certifications (Desirable):

Forklift Truck Licence (Counterbalance or Telehandler) Manual Handling Training Basic Health & Safety awareness (e.g., CSCS card or equivalent)
