Yard Operative - Immediate Start

Location:

Stanhope Industrial Park, Wharf Rd, Stanford-le-Hope SS17 0EH

Hours:

Full-time - Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5pm

Salary:

26,000-30,000 per annum (based on experience)

About the Role

Working in a busy container yard, you will help ensure safe and efficient movement, inspection, and preparation of containers & welfare units . This role involves outdoor manual work, teamwork, and operating around heavy machinery.

Key Responsibilities

Assisting with the loading, unloading, and positioning of containers within the yard. Supporting container inspections, checking for damage and recording container numbers. Ensuring the yard is kept clean, organised, and safe at all times. Operating yard equipment (where trained) such as forktruck Cleaning of all units within the yard (Stores/Accommodation based units - Office/Canteens/Welfare/Toilets) Following all health & safety procedures Completing basic paperwork or digital logs as required.

What we are looking for:

Previous experience in a container yard, warehouse, construction, haulage yard, or similar industrial environment (Preferred but not required) Valid Forktruck experience (Preferred but not required) Welding experience - MIG/Stick or basis repair welding is a strong advantage (Preferred but not required) Understanding of basic electrics (Preferred but not required) Understanding of basic plumbing (preferred but not required) Understanding of basis carpentry(Preferred but not required) Strong understanding of yard safety and working around heavy moving vehicles and equipment Able to carry out basis manual handling
MUST HAVE A VALID CLEAN DRIVING LICENCE
