Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Yard Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency of our operations by ensuring that materials are handled properly and equipment is well-maintained. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to perform physical tasks in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

Load and unload materials from lorries and containers, ensuring accurate handling and storage. Assist in shipping and receiving operations, verifying quantities and conditions of incoming and outgoing shipments. Perform routine equipment repairs and maintenance to ensure optimal performance. Handle materials efficiently, following safety protocols to prevent accidents or injuries. Utilise basic maths skills for inventory management and stocktaking. Engage in heavy lifting as required, ensuring proper techniques are used to maintain safety. Operate warehouse management systems to track inventory levels and manage stock locations. Demonstrate mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues. Maintain a clean and organised yard area, ensuring that all tools and materials are stored correctly.

Experience

Previous experience in a warehouse or yard environment is preferred but not essential. Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes is advantageous. Experience with load unloading practices, including the use of forklifts, is beneficial. A background in materials handling will be considered an asset. Mechanical knowledge or experience with equipment repair will enhance your application. Candidates should possess the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and a proactive approach to their duties.
