If you've got experience of working with young people aged 11-17 years old and are passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people in the care system, then why not come and join the Formations Care Family in our Residential Children's Home Service?
Our Homes
We have four homes based in Thornton (BD13), Denholme (BD13), Low Moor (BD12) and Cleckheaton (BD19).
Each of our homes is based in a quiet residential community and has availability for a maximum of two young people (aged 11-19). We have two full time Registered Managers across two homes (Thornton & Denholme / Low Moor & Cleckheaton) and a Deputy Manager and 6 RSW's in each home, along with a pool of peripatetic staff covering annual leave, illness and emergency cover shifts. There will always be a minimum of two staff on shift at all times (not inc. the Manager and Deputy Manager).
Our model of care is based on a therapeutic approach and all staff are trained in house to deliver TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention). We provide all training via online learning with Careskills, and Emergency First Aid at Work and Paediatric Training via blended learning (online and 1 day in person).
For staff who are not qualified, we enrol and pay for your Level 4 qualification upon starting with us. There is also a requirement to complete a full induction programme and shadow shifts to enable you to start your career with us, fully prepared.
Rotas
The planned rota for each home runs over a 3 week period and will be a rolling rota, which means it repeats every 3 weeks. This enables staff to know exactly what their shifts will be and will allow them to plan things outside of work.
Each staff member covers 114hrs and 7 sleeps over a 3 week period, this equates to an avg 38hrs p/w. This is split into double shifts or single shifts or a combination of both.
All staff get one full weekend off each 3 wks and an additional Saturday and Sunday over split weeks.
The shifts start at 7.30am in the morning and finish at 11pm in the evening, there is then a sleep shift, followed by a handover 7am - 8am. Or if it's a double shift, then the shift would start at 7am till 11pm, with a sleep shift and then a handover.
Salary & Benefits
The posts available are full-time, permanent posts. All staff are salaried, meaning you will get paid a flat rate each month with any additional overtime paid on top of this. The salary for a 38hrs/7slps role is approx.31,260 p/a which equates to 12.75 an hour and 50 per sleep shift for unqualified staff 31,754.55 for qualified staff. All salaries have an increase in April 2025.
Due to being salaried, you also receive your sleeps allowance when taking annual leave, this is worth 686 p/a for sleeps not worked but paid.

Access to free food whilst on shift.
Annual Christmas Bonus.
