About the role

Do you have the skills and experience to engage and build timely positive trusting relationships with young people and families to inspire them to make positive changes and improve life outcomes?


Northamptonshire Children's Trust Young People's Service offers support to young people and their families with identified complex support needs and offers targeted support to address risks outside the family home, in addition offering support to young people who have had missing episodes through statutory guidance.


We welcome interest from both new applications and those who applied previously as long as the gap between applications is more than 3 months.

What will you be doing?

The young people's service (YPS) conduct all return home interviews (RHI) with young people, when they return from any missing episode. Our practitioners work with young people who present with concerns around: child exploitation, knife crime, relationships, anxiety, low self-esteem, parental conflict, and many other concerns that young people may need support with. The concerns outlined are many contributing factors to young people's missing episodes and therefore, interviews are conducted by practitioners who are experienced in delivering interventions around this.
The return interview not only focuses on the missing episode itself, but also assesses the young person's life holistically. This aids the practitioner to identify any presenting needs and concerns they may have, to inform any onward support.

Our aim is to provide young people and families with the right services at the right time and for young people to be supported to make a successful transition to adulthood.


You will be providing a county wide service so you would need to be able to travel effectively across county and would be based in one of our children's centres closest to your home address.


About you

You are an enthusiastic, self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.


You're able to work flexibly with families and advocate on behalf of children, young people and vulnerable adults


You hold a Level 3 qualification in working with children, young people vulnerable adults and their families or have substantial professional experience in this area


You have experience of direct work with families with multiple problems and with families who find it difficult to engage with services.
