ARC Hounslow is committed to supporting young people who experience difficulties in relation to their substance use. This role is to work as a member of HYPE - the Young People (YP) service within the Borough, including networking and attending relevant meetings/events.



We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and energetic recovery practitioner to join our team, working with young people who present with substance use issues and the challenges these might pose. The service sits within the wider ARC Hounslow core addictions service. The applicant will be based across schools, early help hubs and other community settings where young people are and work alongside a variety of teams and services supporting young people with drug and alcohol issues.



The role of the young people's Recovery Practitioner is to engage young people in 1:1 support, advice and information relating to substance use with a view to supporting an improvement in their overall lifestyle, supporting positive health outcomes.



They will deliver educational awareness in young person settings; i.e. schools, colleges, through workshops, assemblies, etc.



They will deliver bespoke training for those in contact with young people i.e. teachers, foster carers, parents, social care, etc.



They will oversee, work effectively and in partnership with all relevant key partners within the Borough. This includes networking and establishing links where appropriate.



They will plan, organise and deliver individual and group work interventions for young people in locations that are suitable for young people i.e.

The Addictions Directorate with CNWL Foundation Trust is a large, well-established provider which offers a wide range of specialist NHS drug and alcohol treatment interventions to the diverse and multicultural populations in Central and North West London. Our Drug and Alcohol services include 7 community services, 1 in-patient service. We also run a National Gambling Service and a Club Drug Clinic.



Our substance use services are dedicated to helping reduce the harm caused by substance misuse dependency; helping people overcome their dependency on substances and helping clients and their families rebuild their lives and enable recovery. We are committed to working in partnership with other providers and service users in local systems of treatment and recovery.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team which provides care to young people presenting with substance use issues, including alcohol to deliver evidence-based interventions such as: assessment, harm minimisation approaches, motivational interviewing, sexual health, relapse prevention, care planning individual intervention, health education and detoxification programmes, mindfulness, counselling and group work in 1-1 and group work settings



To deliver engagement activities appropriate for YP to motivate the YP into considering an alternative lifestyle/pathway, such as; sports, art, etc.



To effectively manage a caseload ensuring motivation and increasing the YP's health outcomes and lifestyle choices.



To base in various satellites within the borough to deliver interventions/1:1's; Schools, youth centres, sexual health centres, GP surgeries, other YP services within the Borough.



To focus on preventative & early intervention methods to the YP, including resilience building and managing high risk situations, etc.



To identify and highlight any safeguarding concerns, following processes, protocols & guidelines. This may also include attending relevant meetings, such as child protection/child in need meetings, etc.



To appropriately include family/carers and/or other professionals when delivering support and/or recovery planning for the YP.



To provide information/guidance/support for families, carers and/or loved ones of the YP.



To have knowledge and effectively communicate with other YP agencies/services within the Borough to support protocols and referral pathways with relevant YP community agencies.



Work closely with the Youth Offending Service (YOS), ensuring a joined-up approach and a seamless transition for YP into adult services where appropriate. This will also include attending relevant (team) meetings etc.



Support the design, development and implementation of training requirements regularly with support of others, to ensure that the needs of young people, stakeholders and services can be met.
