Main Purpose of the Position
As a Support Worker, you will work within your team of Support Worker in order to achieve high standards in the management of the care home and ensure that children within the care home receive the best care possible. To help build long-term relationships with local authorities, key stakeholders, staff, and with the young people, whilst maintaining the upkeep of the home. You can be asked to support in any area regarding the maintenance of the property.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support and supervise children and young people in a residential setting.
To support and maintain the children's individual care plans.
To provide a safe and secure environment for children and young people.
To work as part of a team to ensure that the needs of the children and young people are met.
Ensuring that all work is conducted in line with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures and that the rights and welfare of young people are always safeguarded.
Keeping accurate records of all interventions and progress and reporting to the House Manager and other professionals as required.
Keep accurate and up-to-date records of each child's progress and development. This involves documenting any incidents, behaviour, and progress to ensure that the child receives the support they need.

Skills and Expertise
Experience working collaboratively in a team
Knowledge and understanding of mental health issues affecting children and young people in care is important.
Provide a high level of care and support to the children and young people in the home.
Build positive relationships with the children and young people to help them feel safe, valued, and supported.
Experience in practical tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene is important.
The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, is often required.
The ability to communicate effectively with children and young people, as well as other professionals such as social workers, healthcare professionals, and educational staff.
Experience working with children and young people, particularly in a residential setting, is highly desirable.
An understanding of child protection policies and procedures is essential.
The ability to understand and relate to the needs and experiences of children and young people in care, and to provide emotional support and reassurance when necessary.
First aid training, including basic life support, is important to ensure that the children and young people in care are safe and well-cared for.
Knowledge of medication administration, to young children and young people in care.
A strong knowledge of CRM platforms, including Google Workspace tools such as Google Docs and Google Meet.
Personal Qualities
Positive and enthusiastic attitude towards their work, and be able to motivate and inspire the children and young people in care.
High ethical standards and act with integrity
A genuine interest in the welfare and well-being of the children and young people in care and be motivated by a desire to help them achieve their full potential.
The ability to remain calm and focused in challenging situations and to adapt to changing circumstances.
Requirements
NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent - or be willing to work towards a required qualification
Experience working with children and young people, particularly in a residential setting, is highly desirable.
The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, is often required.
Enhanced DBS is required
Full UK Driving Licence, desirable

Additional Information:
In compliance with Ofsted regulations, support workers must be at least four years older than the oldest young person within the home. For instance, if the oldest resident is turning 18, candidates must be a minimum of 23 years old.
