Support Staff pay structure

Band 1 (Zero Hour) 13.50 per hour including holiday pay Band 2 (Perm F/T) 13.50 per hour + holiday pay (37.5 hours per week) Band 3 (Perm F/T) Entry 26,325 + holiday pay (at or enrolled Level 4 training apprentice) 37.5 hours per week Band 4 (Perm F/T) Experienced 30,000 + holiday pay (at Level 4 or equiv) 37.5 hours per week Band 5 (Perm F/T) Senior 33,500 + holiday pay (at or enrolled or level 5 after probation) 37.5 hours per week Band 6 (Perm F/T) Deputy 37,877 + holiday pay (enrolled at Level 5 after probation) 37.5 hours per week Band 7 (Perm F/T) RSM 45,000 (enrolled at Level 6 after probation) 37.5 hours per week

Job Summary

As a Support Worker with Norman Galloway Homes, you will play a critical role in providing one-on-one support to young people aged 16-21 in Supported Accommodation. This role requires someone with at least 3 years of experience in support work within the United Kingdom, who understands the unique challenges faced by care-experienced young people. You will work collaboratively with each resident to help them build life skills, manage practical tasks, and work toward personal goals, creating a strong foundation for independence.

Key Responsibilities

Provide Practical and Emotional Support: Guide young people in areas such as budgeting, household management, and navigating everyday responsibilities. Deliver Structured Life Skills Activities: Conduct sessions from our NGH Way Intensive Housing Management workbook, teaching over 100 essential life skills, including home maintenance, personal finance, and self-care. Administrative Support: Assist residents with important administrative tasks, including accessing benefits, completing forms, and applying for housing or employment opportunities. Assess and Document Progress: Maintain thorough records of each resident's progress, noting completion of activities, self-assessment scores, and feedback. Safeguarding and Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of all residents by adhering to safeguarding policies and Supported Accommodation Regulations 2023. Encourage Independence: Foster a positive and supportive environment where young people feel empowered to take ownership of their lives and future goals.

Qualifications and Skills

Minimum of 3 years in a support work, social care, or similar role. This will include experience or knowledge of creating support plans, risk assessments and behavior plans. Level 3/4 Children's social care or equivalent. Ability to provide mentorship and guide young people in life skills and practical knowledge. Knowledge of safeguarding best practices, ideally within the Supported Accommodation Regulations 2023 framework. Able to build rapport with young people and collaborate effectively with team members. Able to document interactions and track resident progress clearly and accurately. Knowledge of the challenges facing care leavers and experience in supported accommodation or housing services.
