Job Description

The North Kelvin Sports Development Group are a registered charity based in north-west Glasgow with the stated aims of inclusiveness, opportunity and access for all. As a grass-roots organisation we offer our entire community sports participation, education and coaching and volunteering opportunities allowing the whole community to benefit from the opportunities provided by the organisation.

The group also run North Kelvin Utd, a well-established Scottish FA Quality Mark Platinum which provides weekly football coaching and games for teams at Fun 4s, 7 a-side and 11 a-side including a Girls and Adult team. The club's motto is 'Oportunitas', coming from the Latin meaning: fitness, advantage and opportunity.

Purpose



This post will require the successful candidates to manage, recruit players for, and coach, one of our established Youth or Children's teams who currently play matches in SYFA accredited leagues. Training sessions currently take place in the North Kelvinside Primary School.

Main Duties and Responsibilities



To plan, prepare, deliver and evaluate the coaching programme to develop all youth team players. Provide support and advice to the assistant coaches and helpers within the coaching team. Brief all helpers, assistant coaches and players on the aims of the session and the purpose of each activity. Provide support and advice to the assistant coaches and helpers within the coaching team. Ensure that you are well briefed about any special needs of the players involved i.e. medical condition/disabilities Attend any meetings with fellow coaches where appropriate. Make players aware of their progress. Identify and recruit, in line with club procedures, additional volunteers to assist in the running of the club activities. Abide by and promote sound ethics and club policy, child protection, fair play and equal opportunities to all members. Develop your own skills by attending SFA coach education courses, sports coach UK courses and any in-service training that is organised by the club. Take responsibility for ensuring that the equipment is correct and is kept in good working order. Be aware of and promote the clubs codes of conduct for assistant coaches and players at all times. Be aware of and follow the procedures for recording accidents. Be aware of the club's Health and Safety policy and Emergency procedures and take responsibility for Health and Safety aspects during activities. Ensure that there is an accessible, well-stocked first aid kit at the venue and a telephone nearby.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Scottish FA Level 1.2 Qualification (Youth/Adult Coaching Award) or Working Towards Relevant professional qualification in sport (desirable not essential) 2 Years minimum coaching experience (desirable not essential) Understanding of sports equity Enhanced PVG clearance
