Who we are:

Whitehead-Ross Education and Consulting (WRE) is an education and social welfare organisation. Founded in 2012, we deliver a variety of high-quality skills-related programmes and social services provision.

Our programmes include support for unemployed individuals to retrain and secure jobs, vocational training programmes, adult education and social services provision such as support for families who have children with disabilities and parenting support.

With a workforce of 106 staff and still expanding, between 1st August 2022 and 30th July 2023, we supported a total of 3,568 participants across our programmes in Cornwall, Dorset, South Wales, Sussex, Wiltshire and Worcestershire. Since we started in 2012, we have now supported 11,493 individuals!

Our recent Ofsted inspection (28th - 30th June 2024) found that "Leaders and managers are proactive in helping to promote the well-being of their staff. They provide staff with manageable workloads. Leaders have created a culture where adults develop positive attitudes to learning and work as a result of studying the curriculum and receiving support and guidance from tutors."

What is Jobs Growth Wales +:

Jobs Growth Wales+ (JGW+) is a Welsh Government-funded programme, which supports young people aged 16-19 with tailored support to ensure they get the help they need to find employment or training.

The JGW+ programme offers young people a holistic approach to employability support and has 3 strands. The three strands are Engagement, Advancement and Employment to ensure differentiated levels of interventions are available to meet the diverse needs of individuals.

All individuals receive individualised support, which involves a wide range of activity beyond training and skills development. This may include but is not limited to the use of employer work placements, work trials, community projects, voluntary work, centre-based learning opportunities and wage subsidised employment.

What You'll do:

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to develop and provide skills training for learners on our JGW+ programme. You will be required to engage with learners aged 16-19 who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET).

You will deliver City and Guilds Employability Skills, Essential Skills Wales qualifications (Application of Number, Digital Literacy and Communication), and non-accredited Life Skills.

You will have the ability to differentiate and challenge learner ability levels whilst supporting our young learners providing some focus on career paths and creating progression opportunities for both further learning and employment.

The role will be based within our Merthyr Tydfil centre as part of our JGW+ team, reporting to the Operations Manager (Wales).

To ensure learners are adequately prepared and given the opportunity to progress based on individual needs. Develop creative lesson plans and Schemes of Work, incorporating varied teaching styles and varied activities to ensure a quality learning experience. To carry out meaningful interviews, inductions, initial assessments, and reviews with learners to measure progress and identify support and training needs. To monitor and maintain learner attendance and actively manage learner caseload with minimum of weekly contact with each learner (to include Centre and Work based learners). This includes identifying learners who are at risk of disengagement and providing support to prevent this happening. To deliver Information, Advice and Guidance to all learners. To provide prospective learners with information on Whitehead-Ross Education's programmes and services and assist in the promotion and marketing of these programmes to employers and learners. To liaise with Working Wales, Jobcentres, and any other relevant stakeholders to promote the service and maintain good working relationships. To promote Wales and Welsh Culture, British Values and Prevent. To carry out any related administrative duties. To participate in qualification standardisation meetings with other Tutors across the organisation. Additional Duties and Responsibilities: To use information technology systems to carry out duties in the most efficient and effective manner. To achieve agreed contract outcomes and outputs, and personal appraisal targets, as agreed by the Line Manager. To demonstrate clear verbal and written communication skills. To be highly self-motivated and organised and possess the ability to work as part of a team.
