Sunrise Academy - Lowestoft 35 hours per week, 39 weeks per year - Permanent Salary: 25,584 per annum - 27,269 per annum (Dependent on qualifications and experience) Actual Salary: 20,543 - 21,869 per annum
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with social, emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

We are looking for a committed Youth Worker to join our inclusive and supportive team. You? play a vital role in creating a safe and nurturing environment for students with a range of needs, including SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), communication and interaction difficulties, and other co-occurring challenges.

What you? do:

Provide 1:1 and small group support, both on and off site Assist in the delivery of tailored learning packages linked to studentsEHCPs Support classroom, vocational and outdoor/off-site activities under the direction of teaching staff Encourage development of English, Maths, and social skills during practical tasks Use Trauma-Informed strategies to help students feel safe, regulated, and supported Assist with the recording of progress, behaviour observations, and engagement Support with off-site trips and contribute to risk assessments as required Communicate positively with parents, carers, and wider professionals Cover short- and medium-term teacher absences when needed
Who we? looking for:

Someone with a calm, empathetic approach who thrives in a flexible working environment Experience working with young people with SEMH, SEND or similar needs is desirable A team player who can take initiative but also follow clear guidance and structure Someone who understands (or is willing to learn) Trauma Informed Practice Basic first aid training or willingness to undertake training (provided)

We operate various schools and programmes designed to help children and young adults with SEND, offering specialised teaching, outreach services, and alternative provision to meet diverse educational needs.
