About the Role
As a Residential Waking Nights Support Worker, you will be part of a dedicated and supportive team, ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and emotional security of children and young people overnight.
You will:
Provide a consistent, reassuring presence during the night.
Monitor and respond to young people's needs with sensitivity and professionalism.
Promote a safe, calm, and nurturing environment throughout the night.
Support bedtime routines and help young people settle safely.
Carry out domestic and administrative tasks as required to support smooth running of the home.
Follow and contribute to care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies.
Keep accurate records, including incident logs and handovers.
Work in partnership with colleagues and external professionals as needed.
Shifts follow a regular 2-week rolling rota, providing structure and a balanced approach to work-life commitments.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
Experience supporting children or young people (residential care or similar setting preferred).
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust and positive relationships.
Patience, empathy, resilience, and a genuine commitment to helping others.
Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
Flexibility to work a structured rota including weekends and public holidays.
A team player with a collaborative, supportive approach.
Desirable:
NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or Children and Young People's Workforce.
First Aid training.
Experience supporting children with complex or challenging behaviours.
Full UK driving licence.
