Summary

Sense Education is looking for a committed and experienced 1:1 Primary Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEMH and SEND needs in a nurturing mainstream primary school. This is a long-term, part-time position starting in September, offering consistent hours and the opportunity to make a real difference in a child's school experience.

What You'll Be Doing

As a 1:1 Primary Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support throughout the school day, not just in the mornings. You'll be instrumental in helping the pupil:

Stay regulated and engaged using strategies such as Zones of Regulation, sensory breaks, and visual timetables Access learning by breaking down tasks and adapting resources Feel safe, supported, and understood within the classroom environment Follow a consistent behaviour plan with input from SENCOs and class teachers Develop trust and routine through your reliable, calm, and empathetic presence

This 1:1 Primary Teaching Assistant role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and thrives on consistency and clear structure. We're looking for someone who brings:

A recognised Level 2 or above qualification in Teaching Assistance, Childcare, or Early Years Experience supporting children with SEMH and SEND in a classroom setting Confidence in using emotional regulation and de-escalation techniques The ability to stay calm under pressure and build strong working relationships A reflective, compassionate approach to behaviour and learning support

As a 1:1 Primary Teaching Assistant, you'll be valued as part of the wider team and given the tools and trust to make a genuine impact.

Hours

Part-time and full time available, Monday to Friday Term Time only Consistent timetable from week to week

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
