Hours and times of work can be discussed. The support of 5 hours is given for 3 days of the week. Hours must be set.
The position is temporary until July 2026. For the right candidate there is scope for full time employment.
Job Overview
As a Support Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing assistance and support to a child on a 1:1 basis. Your primary focus will be on fostering independence and enhancing the quality of care and education for the little one you support. This position requires a compassionate individual who is dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of children.
Duties
Provide direct support to an individual child, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Implement tailored teaching strategies to promote learning and development with support from the child's key worker and setting SENDCo
Engage in various activities, including play, educational tasks, and daily living skills.
Collaborate with families and other professionals to contribute to and support the implementation of individualised support plans.
Foster communication skills through use of British Sign Language with both the child and their parents.
Assist in managing behaviour by employing positive reinforcement techniques and following the settings policy.
Maintain accurate records of progress and liaise with key worker and SENDCo to complete these.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your skills where required.
Requirements
Experience working with children with SEN is desirable
Background in special education or teaching is highly desirable.
Previous experience with children, particularly in a care or educational setting, is beneficial.
Strong communication skills to effectively engage with individuals and their families.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
Understanding of child care principles is an advantage.
