1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Year 2 (Barnet, N12)

Full-Time | September Start | 90-100 per day

An inclusive and nurturing primary school in Barnet (NW11) is looking to appoint a compassionate and reliable 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil with significant learning and communication needs. This full-time position is available from September and offers a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting difference in a child's educational journey.

About the Role

You will be working closely with a pupil who has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outlining a range of learning deficits and speech and language difficulties. The pupil does not present with behavioural challenges but requires tailored, consistent support to access the curriculum and engage in classroom activities at an appropriate pace.

Your Role Will Include:

Delivering individualised support across core subjects, guided by the class teacher and SENCO. Using visual aids, repetition, and structured tasks to help develop understanding and retention. Supporting language development through targeted communication strategies. Providing emotional reassurance and helping to build self-confidence and independence. Liaising with teachers and therapists to ensure effective, coordinated provision.

Candidate Requirements

Previous experience working with children with learning needs and/or speech and language difficulties. A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to support and engagement. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team. A passion for inclusive education and enabling all pupils to succeed.
