1:1 Support staff are required to work directly with SEND children who are used to receiving 1:1 support in their term time environments. The role requires staff to ensure the welfare and safety of their assigned SEND child is maintained at all times whilst encouraging their engagement and participation in camp activities.
1:1 Support staff must work with their colleagues to establish an appropriate camp environment for their assigned child to help develop their social and communication skills within a group setting.
This role is recruited for according to the individual child's requirements. We will have the relevant information regarding the child's need prior to advertising the role, so we can establish whether candidates are comfortable with catering for the child and have the relevant experience required.
Duties and Responsibilities
To give positive encouragement, feedback, and praise to develop confidence and self-esteem, and encourage the child to engage in camp activities.
To promote the acceptance and inclusion SEND children, encouraging other children to interact with each other in an appropriate and acceptable manner.
Supervise and engage with the children outside of activity times.
Continuously promote the welfare of the children in your care.
Show high levels of energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism, acting as a suitable role model for the children.
Ensure all policies and procedures on camp are adhered to by yourself and the children in your care, including all health and safety, and safeguarding procedures.

Other ad-hoc duties (e.g., cleaning, equipment maintenance etc).
Essential Requirements
Experience of working with SEND children in a 1:1 or group setting.
Experience of working with children and delivering activities.
Able to tailor your approach according to age, ability and needs of the child.
Be enthusiastic, energetic and passionate about developing children through play and activity.
Good organisation and communication skills. Candidates must be confident in their own abilities and not shy away from responsibility.
A flexible team player, able to adapt to dynamic situations and challenges on camp.
Sensitivity and understanding
Patient with the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
Able to create the best conditions for learning or teaching new things
Able to understand people's reactions

Desirable Requirements
Qualified in or working towards a relevant sport, art, performing arts, teaching or childcare qualification.
Hold a Paediatric First Aid (12 hour or 6 hour) or First Aid at Work qualification.
