We have an exciting new opportunity for a 1-1 teaching assistant to support pupils with Autism in a specialist SEND setting. This role will involve working 1:1 with the pupils as well as within small groups, helping them to build communication, literacy, numeracy, and social skills. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider team to ensure the pupil makes progress and feels supported in their learning journey.
The ideal person for this role will be caring, compassionate, and calm, with the creativity to engage pupils in fun and meaningful ways.
The role
Supporting the class teacher in delivering lessons tailored to the pupil's individual needs
Helping the pupil to develop communication, social, and independence skills
Taking a patient and nurturing approach to engage the pupil positively in learning
Providing daily feedback to the class teacher on the pupil's progress and development
Engaging with parents and carers when required
Maintaining a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment
The ideal candidate
Experience supporting young people or adults with Autism and/or other SEND
A caring, patient, and resilient approach to working with children with additional needs
Passionate about improving the learning journey for young people with SEND
An Autism awareness qualification would be beneficial but is not essential
A childcare or TA qualification would be beneficial but is not essential

This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
