Join our team as Community Development Officer
We're recruiting for three Community Development Officer roles - one full-time and two part-time posts - to help us strengthen local communities through meaningful engagement and practical support.
This role plays an important part in supporting residents, building partnerships, and developing community-led projects. You'll be working directly in neighbourhoods, helping people take action on the things that matter most to them.
If you're passionate about inclusion, collaboration, and creating lasting change, this could be the perfect opportunity to make a real difference.
Key Responsibilities
Support communities to come together and take action on the issues that matter most to them.
Encourage residents to use their strengths, skills, and community assets to improve quality of life.
Build strong relationships with residents and organisations to promote inclusive, long-term participation.
Deliver consultations, events, and local action plans in collaboration with partners.
Secure external funding to support local projects and deliver externally funded programmes.
Support the running of community buildings and outdoor community spaces.
Promote a joined-up, cross-sector approach to improve services and influence local strategy.
Ensure equality, diversity, inclusion, and health & safety are embedded in everything you do.
What you'll need to succeed
A Level 4 qualification in a relevant subject and at least two years' experience in a community engagement or development role.
Proven ability to plan, deliver, and manage community projects and initiatives.
A good understanding of community development principles, and the challenges faced by communities, including poverty and social exclusion.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong partnerships and influence outcomes.
A creative, inclusive, and collaborative approach to problem-solving and engagement.
Confidence using digital tools and systems, including Microsoft Office, Teams, and SharePoint.
A commitment to our values: acting with good intentions, communicating openly, listening with care, and working together to create solutions.
