Maternity Cover - Community Development Officer (30 Hours Per Week)
Salary - 28,238 for 30 hour week
Newmilns Regeneration Association is seeking to appoint maternity cover for our part time Community Development Officer. The position will run until June 2026 (subject to change dependent upon end date of Maternity Leave). They will co-ordinate and implement capital projects and assist with the development of new projects which play a role in the continued regeneration of Newmilns.
Key capital projects will be based around the Town Centre Master Plan, Place Making Plan and Community Action Plan. You will also be expected to:
Engage with East Ayrshire Council departments including Vibrant Communities, Legal, and Planning. Includes submission of Planning Applications and Asset Transfer requests as well monitoring and pursuing suh request.
Seek, apply and monitor grant opportunities for the Association's projects and aspirations, including maintaining a working relationship with grant providers
Take forward the main points of the Community Action Plan
Drive the Masterplan and work with the community to deliver the key objectives
Develop activities and services to generate aspiration and confidence
Record and Maintain meeting records
Maintain calendar for hires and events at the CHaT Hub, including hosting events including as a Warm Hub one day per week.
The ideal candidate will be:
Educated to degree level. Qualification in community development, real estate management or project management an advantage
Have a basic knowledge of current Planning Legislation, Building Regulations and tradition construction techniques and materials
Experience of working with community organisations, local council, businesses and multi-agency partnerships
Community and customer focused individual with the ability to communicate well with others
Excellent organisational, communication and negotiation skills
Ability to work to tight deadlines and secure positive outcomes
Strong ICT skills including use of social media, Microsoft Office and online portals used by EAC.
Acts in a manner that reflects the organisations core values
The role will involve regular patterns of work, but an amount of evening and weekend work will also be required to tie in with Association meetings and events. The successful applicant will be based in our Culture, Heritage and Tourism Hub (CHaT Hub) in Newmilns.
