Within our University pathways division, the International Study Centre at the University of East London provides a safe and friendly environment for growing numbers of students wishing to progress from our programmes to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the University. We are looking for an Academic Support Administrator to join our expanding team at our centre in UEL's Docklands campus, providing an excellent service to internal and external customers relating to a range of academic support functions.

Our International Study Centre at the University of East London offers an extensive programme of face-to-face tuition and student support to students from around the world. Owing to the nature of our provision, we are unable to offer remote working options for this role.

Main duties



Key Responsibilities



Be responsible for the delivery of high quality academic administration support to staff and students at our Centre;

Support the functions and processes associated with the effective and efficient delivery, monitoring and assessment of academic programmes to required quality standards;

Effective maintenance of student records, including attendance, progression and grades, and development of systems and processes to optimise the efficiency of these processes;

Assist with the implementation of all aspects of assessment, examination and award processes in an accurate and timely manner;

Effectively liaise with colleagues in relation to the co-ordination of academic timetables and the availability of teaching space;

Contribute to the provision and monitoring of pastoral and academic support which supports our students realise their potential, including the identification of areas which could be improved within these support structures and processes;

Liaise with centre and University staff and other stakeholders on a wide range of academic support matters;

Assist with providing timely and accurate management information

Attend and take minutes at appropriate academic programme meetings as required

The flexibility and willingness to carry out other work from time to time at our request, and to work effectively under pressure at key times in the academic year.

Person Specification



Essential Skills & Qualifications

:

Eligibility to work in, and travel freely to and from the UK

Appropriate DBS disclosure will be required prior to confirmation of appointment

Proven experience of administration in a customer-focussed environment

Experience in assisting with the development and implementation of effective and efficient systems and processes

Effectiveness in building and maintaining excellent working relationships with colleagues and customers from a wide range of backgrounds

Very strong administrative skills, excellent written and spoken English, and attention to detail

Able to prioritise, meet deadlines and work under pressure

Well developed IT skills, particularly with regards to Microsoft Office and able to learn and accurately use new IT databases/systems at a fast pace

Time management skills demonstrated in a fast-paced environment

Effective working on your own initiative and as part of a team

Flexibility and willingness to undertake and learn new tasks and skills

Committed and responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young adults.

Desirable:



Prior work experience in an education setting

Prior understanding of the needs, sensitivities and aspirations of international students

Fluency in a second language

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as demonstrated ability to proactively and effectively work in a team environment.

Acts with integrity at all times
