Job Description

Key Responsibilities:



Accounts Preparation



Prepare accurate and compliant statutory annual accounts for a varied

portfolio of clients including limited companies (applying FRS 102/FRS

102 Section 1A / FRS 105) and sole traders.

Manage the full accounts production cycle from initial client records to

final financial statements.

Taxation:



Prepare and review Corporation Tax computations and CT600 returns

for limited companies.

Prepare Self-Assessment tax returns (SA100, SA800) for individuals

and sole traders.

Assist with VAT return review/preparation.

Review and Quality Assurance:



Thoroughly review accounts, working papers, and tax computations

prepared by junior accountants to ensure accuracy, completeness, and

adherence to accounting standards and practice procedures.

Provide constructive feedback and guidance to enhance the quality of

work.

Assist with workload allocation and deadline management within the

team.

Compliance & Software:



Ensure all work adheres to UK accounting standards, Companies

House regulations, HMRC guidelines, and Anti-Money Laundering

(AML) policies.

Utilize various accounting software packages (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks

Online, Sage, FreeAgent) and practice management software

efficiently, typically IRIS and TaxCalc.

Skills and Experience Required:



Qualifications: ACA/ACCA qualified, or qualified by extensive experience in

a UK practice environment.

Experience: Proven experience (minimum of 3-5 years) within a UK

accountancy practice, with a significant background in accounts preparation

and taxation for SMEs.

Technical Knowledge

: Strong understanding of UK GAAP (FRS 102, FRS

105) and current UK tax legislation (Corporation Tax, Income Tax, VAT).

Software Proficiency:

Demonstrable expertise with cloud accounting

platforms (Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent, Sage) and practice-specific

software (e.g., Iris, TaxCalc).

Leadership and Mentoring:



Previous experience in reviewing work and

mentoring junior staff.

Communication

: Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.

Attention to Detail:

Meticulous approach to work, ensuring accuracy and

compliance.

Organization: Strong time management and organizational skills, with the

ability to manage multiple client deadlines effectively.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 50,000.00-61,669.84 per year

Work Location: In person
