We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our small but fast growing accountancy practice.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a base of clients work including self assessment tax returns, annual accounts for ltd co / sole trader & partnership, CT600, VAT and bookkeeping. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a fast paced and growing environment helping to shape the future of the firm.
The ideal candidate will be able to handle a base of clients on a day to day basis including liaising with them for queries. This role is available on part time or full time basis with a minimum of 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain accurate financial records using accounting software such as Xero, Quickbooks, Freeagent, and other relevant systems
Process receipts and reconcile bank accounts to a very high standard
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and returns in compliance with organisational policies and regulatory standards to review level
Support month-end and year-end closing activities
Reconcile ledger accounts
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members or trainees as required
Essential Skills
Proven experience in financial management or accounting roles with a minimum of 2 years bookkeeping experience and ideally 12 months year end experience.
Proficiency with Xero is essential, Quickbooks and Freeagent experience desired but not essential as full training can be given on these.
Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and practices
Experience with accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger management
Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail
Strong communication skills in a highly professional manner with both staff and clients.
AAT level 4 or equivalent, or in the later stages of completion of this with experience. Qualified by experience with a strong practice background would also be considered.
Ability to follow existing processes but also help improve and implement change, suggest ideas and work as a team to continue growth
Confident in managing a diverse workload and managing own deadlines
We offer some hybrid working with a minimum of 3/5 office based depending on hours. We are a real team practice where you will be able to contribute to the running of the company, suggest ideas for change and improvement and deal with an exciting range of clients.
We are looking for a person who is looking to grow alongside us with regular pay reviews subject to achievement of targets.

Pay: 27,300.00-32,000.00 per year
