OCL Accountancy is a well-established, professional, and friendly accountancy practice based just south of Bath city centre. Since 1988, we've supported a wide range of owner-managed businesses and personal tax clients across the South of England and London. We specialise in corporate and personal tax compliance, business advisory, and proactive planning for wealth, CGT, and IHT matters.
We're a close-knit team that values collaboration, flexibility, and delivering excellent service. Our practice is accounts process is built within IRIS software, and we also support clients using QuickBooks, Xero, and Sage.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a qualified or experienced
Accountant
to join our team and take over a portfolio of clients. This is a
client-facing role
with the opportunity to take ownership of relationships and deliver high-quality compliance and advisory services.
This vacancy arises as one of our chartered accountants is moving on to a new role. We're looking to fill the position from
January 2026
, though we're happy to wait until
February
for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare statutory financial statements and working papers
Prepare corporate and personal tax returns
Provide tax advice and client advisory services
Act as the main point of contact for a portfolio of clients
Use IRIS Accounts Production and Business Tax software
Support planning in areas such as IR35, CGT, and IHT (desirable)
What We're Looking For
We welcome applications from a range of experience levels. Ideally, you will:
Be
ACA, ACCA, or ATT qualified
, or
qualified by experience
Alternatively, be an
AAT Level 4 qualified
accountant with strong practice experience and confidence in accounts preparation and IRIS
Have
3-5 years' experience
in an accountancy practice
Be confident managing client relationships independently
Have a strong working knowledge of
IRIS software
Experience with complex tax advisory work is a bonus, but not essential
Working Pattern & Flexibility
We are open to both full-time and part-time applicants (3-5 days per week)
