Job Title: Full-Time Accountant



Location: Sheffield Office



Reports To: Managing Director

Job Summary:



We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Full-Time Accountant to join our Sheffield office. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company's finances, preparing accurate monthly reports, plus Ad-Hoc reports as needed, making strategic payments, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. You will work closely with the Managing Director and other key stakeholders to support the financial health of the company and contribute to strategic decision-making. Our accounting system is Xero.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

Ensuring all accounting tasks are completed and reconciled for month end routines.
Completing the financial year end routine.
Assisting external auditors with the annual audit of the accounts.
Coordinate with Directors and Other senior staff members
Preparing Cash Flow Forecasts and preparing daily spending to suppliers
Produce UK VAT returns on a quarterly basis and 1 overseas VAT return on a monthly basis.
Help and Assist with various audit types.
Have experience and knowledge of reducing Corporation Tax
Monitoring exchange rates to reduce costs incurred while trading in foreign currencies.
Entering journals, managing deferred income and controlling accruals and prepayments.
Write and maintain finance procedures and policies for HMRC
HR and payroll duties. Issuing contracts, ensuring staff files are up to date and monitoring staff sickness.
Preparing Financial Reports to assist in Business Management
Checking, processing and reporting staff expenses and credit card statements
Investigating requirements asked for by MD, Sales Director and Senior Staff Members
Create, manage and audit complex spreadsheets for company wide use
Manage cash flow and short-term company investments.
Reconcile company bank accounts
Help and assist with Company Cash flow, assist in sending statements
Review overdue debtors and customers on hold.
Analyse and report on sales, costs and profit margins.
Asist in monitoring carbon emissions for today and the future with a target to achieve net zero.
Oversee the company's day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable and payroll
Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
Prepare comprehensive monthly financial reports as required
Operate a 'Profit by Product' analysis monthly in Management Reports
Present financial reports to the Managing Director, offering insights and recommendations for financial strategy.
Manage the company's payment schedules, ensuring timely and accurate payments to suppliers, vendors, and employees.
Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes, providing strategic input on expenditure and cost-saving opportunities.
Work closely with the Managing Director to align financial management with the company's strategic goals.
Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support for business operations.
Prepare and file VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.
Manage the preparation of annual financial statements and coordinate the year-end audit process.
Education:

Proven qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional accounting qualifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) are preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an accounting role.

Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and strategic payment management.

Technical Skills:

Proficient in accounting software (Mainly Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Strong understanding of UK tax laws, financial regulations, and compliance requirements.

Soft Skills:

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
