The Accounts Assistant will support the finance function by managing the day?to?day transactional processes alongside the teams Management Accountants and ensuring the smooth running of core accounting activities. This role suits someone who is detail?focused, organised, and keen to build a strong grounding in accounting within a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
Process supplier invoices accurately and promptly
Prepare payment runs and maintain supplier records
Resolve invoice discrepancies by liaising with internal teams and suppliers
Payroll Support
Assist with the preparation of monthly payroll data
Assist in maintaining employee records, ensuring accuracy of hours, absences, and deductions
Support the reconciliation of payroll reports and investigate variances
Help respond to employee payroll queries in a timely and professional manner
Ensure confidentiality and compliance with relevant payroll legislation and internal policies
Banking & Cash Management
Perform daily bank reconciliations
Monitor cash transactions and update internal records
Assist with employee expense claim processing
General Ledger Support
Post routine journals such as accruals, prepayments, and reclassifications
Maintain accurate and organised financial documentation
Assist with month?end tasks, including reconciliations, data preparation and roll forward tasks
Revenue data entry, reconciliation and reporting (primarily as a support to operational teams)
Reporting & Administration
Prepare basic financial reports and summaries for internal use
Support the finance team with data entry, filing, and administrative tasks
Contribute to process improvements, group wide integration and help maintain strong internal controls
Support in the year end financial audit process and other audit related requirements throughout the year
Skills & Experience
Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
Good understanding of basic accounting principles
Strong Excel skills are essential and comfortable learning new finance systems
Comfortable working with large volumes of data in an accurate manner
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach
Previous experience in a finance role is highly beneficial. Candidates without finance experience but strong administrative experience and an appetite to develop within finance will be considered
