Plantsplus is a family owned garden centre which first opened its doors to the public in 2000. It was acquired by the present owner 7 years ago and is part of a group of three centres, each with their own special identity.

The centre has gone from strength to strength and we think it is now one of the leading garden centres in the North East. Substantial improvements have been made since it was brought into the fold and we are always looking to improve the offering to our valued customers. You can help us do that.

We are seeking an Accounts Assistant for our busy garden centre at Plantsplus, near Blagdon. This is a crucial role within the business. You will be responsible for supporting the Manager & Accounts Manager of the centre and will fulfill a similar role to colleagues in our other two centres working in our Accounts team.

Key responsibilities include -

Daily balancing of till floats and weekly reconciliation

Preparing Bank deposits

Processing purchase invoices, income, receipts and payments within set timescales

Assisting with payroll - recording staff illness, holidays, weekly hours & tips

Dealing with financial paperwork

Managing expense claims

General administration

The Candidate

We are looking for someone to provide direct support to the local centre Manager and their team and play a key part in the smooth running of the business.

You will have a positive attitude and work well in a team but also adapt to working in a remote location as part of the extended Accounts function. The role requires attention to detail, problem solving and versatility.

Experience of book keeping (two years minimum), payroll, EPOS systems, retail environments and strong IT skills will help your future success in this position.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
