Accounts Assistant - Full Time
Overview
Reporting to and supporting the Company Accountant, we are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have good attention to detail, a strong background in accounting principles, and the ability to assist with financial tasks accurately and efficiently. This role requires the ability to be agile, work collaboratively with the finance and wider team. The candidate will have integrity and good organisational skills.
Responsibilities
Maintain accurate records of financial transactions, including monthly journal entries for accruals and prepayments.
Prepare the monthly sales invoices.
Assist with payroll preparation, including data entry, calculations, documentation, and tax year end payroll reporting.
Review bank reconciliations, credit card statements, expense submissions.
Assist with VAT return preparation and submission.
Maintain accurate fixed asset register, stock, and work in progress.
Submission of Office for National Statistic returns.
Assist with financial reporting and analysis, including variance analysis.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including working with external auditors and group.
Provide support with transport paperwork, import and export.
Provide back up for the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment processing, and reconciliation.
Respond to enquiries from internal and external stakeholders regarding financial matters.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as assigned.
Skills Required
Proven experience in accounting, or a related field.
Integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive financial information.
Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts.
Familiarity with Sage accounting software would be advantageous.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills are essential.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Diligence and accuracy in work.
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
