As an Accounts Assistant at Henry Boot PLC, you will play a key role in supporting the Group Finance Department by processing and maintaining the purchase ledger for various group companies. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and forward-thinking team, where your attention to detail and proactive approach will help ensure the smooth running of our finance operations.

Main Responsibilities

Processing and coding supplier invoices for group companies. Entering supplier invoices and credit notes into the accounting system. Data input and maintenance of purchase ledger records. Liaising with colleagues internally and suppliers externally to resolve queries. Ensuring correct approval is obtained for purchase invoices and payments. Preparation of payment runs for group companies. Reconciliation of purchase ledger balances. Providing detailed account information to auditors as required. Filing, scanning, and maintaining accurate records. Maintenance of daily cash books and daily bank reconciliation. Preparation of daily cash figures. Assisting in the preparation and production of regular and ad-hoc reports and spreadsheets. Supporting the finance team with ad-hoc tasks and projects as required. Observing strict confidentiality and representing the best interests of Henry Boot Group at all times. Providing cover for other team members as needed.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Previous experience in a finance or accounts assistant role is desirable but not essential. Good numeracy skills and attention to detail. Ability to work accurately and efficiently with data input and financial records. Strong organisational and time management skills. Good communication skills for liaising with colleagues and suppliers. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Willingness to learn and undertake training as required. Ability to work as part of a team and support colleagues. Commitment to confidentiality and high standards of integrity.
