Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm
Holiday: 25 days annual leave + bank holidays

About the Role



A well-established and respected organisation is seeking a dedicated Accounts Assistant to join its dynamic finance team in Stone. This is a pivotal role within the business, providing essential support to ensure the smooth running of daily financial operations and contributing to the company's continued growth and stability. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in finance and accounting, exceptional attention to detail, and the confidence to take ownership of key processes. You'll work closely with senior finance professionals, gaining valuable exposure to a broad range of accounting activities, including bank reconciliations, management reporting, credit control, and process improvement initiatives.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you'll be responsible for supporting day-to-day financial operations, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with key reporting cycles, including month-end and year-end.

Key Responsibilities:



Process invoices and credit notes with precision and accuracy Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies Maintain up-to-date customer and supplier ledgers Reconcile bank accounts and monitor cash flow Prepare monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets Handle employee expense claims and company credit card reconciliations Prepare and process payment runs Oversee credit control and liaise with customers, credit insurers, and internal teams Assist with VAT return preparation Respond to internal and external finance queries promptly and professionally Review and improve finance processes and ensure compliance with company policies Support the wider finance function with ad-hoc tasks as needed

What We're Looking For:



Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy Excellent organizational and time-management skills Confident communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines Proficiency in Microsoft Excel AAT Level 4 qualified Minimum of 2 years' experience in a finance role Solid knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and accounting principles Experience using Sage 50 Accounts
