Job Title: Accounts and HR Manager

You will be a trusted partner to management, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and smooth HR operations while having the chance to make a real impact on how the company grows and supports its people.

Key Responsibilities



Finance & Accounts

Take ownership of day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring everything runs efficiently and accurately. Process supplier payments, staff expenses, and other outgoing payments with precision and timeliness. Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards. Prepare month-end accounts. Support Accounts Receivable when needed, including invoicing, credit control, and resolving customer queries. Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring full compliance with regulations and deadlines. Maintain accurate financial records and contribute to strong internal controls and audit readiness. Assist with cash flow monitoring, budgeting, and forecasting to support strategic decisions.
Payroll

Use your payroll knowledge to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. Manage payroll data and liaise with payroll providers where applicable. Handle payroll queries confidently and professionally. Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including PAYE, NI, pensions, and statutory payments.
HR & People Operations

Be at the centre of the employee lifecycle, from onboarding and contracts to maintaining employee records. Ensure HR processes are compliant, efficient, and supportive of a positive workplace culture. Track and manage HR deadlines such as probation reviews, contract renewals, and statutory reporting. Support absence management, holidays, and employee queries. Assist with performance management, disciplinary, and grievance processes when required. Maintain accurate and confidential HR records in line with GDPR.
Compliance & Organisation

Take pride in meeting and exceeding all accounting and HR deadlines, including month-end, payroll, and VAT. Keep up to date with changes in employment law and accounting regulations. Work closely with external accountants, payroll providers, and HR advisors, building strong professional relationships.

Skills and Experience Required



Experience in a combined Accounts and HR role or strong experience in one with exposure to the other. Solid understanding of payments, reconciliations, and month-end processes. Experience preparing VAT returns. Knowledge of payroll processes and statutory compliance. Excellent organisational skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities. Strong attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving mindset. Confidence handling sensitive and confidential information. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Desirable



AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or similar accounting qualification. CIPD qualification or HR training. Experience in a growing or fast-paced business.

Working Hours & Flexibility



This role offers a structured yet flexible working pattern that supports work-life balance while reflecting the needs of the business:

Summer Hours:

8:30am - 5:30pm

Winter Hours:

8:30am - 5:00pm

Saturdays:

Approximately

10 Saturdays per year

These hours reflect the dynamic nature of the role, with the opportunity to earn additional income through overtime while being part of a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From 17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 42.50 per week
