Surrey Marble & Granite is Surrey's leading supplier of marble, granite, limestone and quartz worktops. The company has been designing and installing quality marble & granite worktops for trade and retail projects for over 25 years across the UK.
An opportunity has arisen within our company for an Accounts Manager. You will be responsible to the Managing Director but be able to work with your own initiative/timeframes. You will have sole ownership of the accounts function of the company and will ensure efficient, accurate & compliant financial operations using Sage50 accounts software & the Microsoft Office suite of programmes.
The candidate will need to have previous experience with the Construction Industry Scheme, VAT & Payroll.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Ledger management; processing of daily/monthly sales invoices, credit control. Liaising with customer queries.
Purchase Ledger management; ensuring supplier invoices and payments are processed.
Construction Industry Scheme; manage the CIS ledger, to include verification of new sub-contractors and have knowledge of how the CIS scheme works including Reverse Charge VAT. Prepare and manage monthly CIS returns.
VAT; ensure VAT returns are prepared, checked and submitted on a quarterly basis
Payroll; process weekly & monthly payroll and pension contributions. Monitor Employment Contracts. Knowledge of HR legislation would be useful but not compulsory.
Banks; reconcile daily bank transactions for banks & credit card expenditure
Process accounts & payroll year ends and deliver to external accountants
Skills & Experience:
Previous experience in using Sage50 Professional & Payroll
Familiarity with Nest Pension Schemes
Good understanding of accounts receivable/payable
Good understanding of how the CIS scheme works
Knowledge of VAT and processing returns
Knowledge of Excel spreadsheets
Ability to work independently and to meet deadlines for various returns
Good telephone manner
The role is based at our office in Fernhurst, Nr Midhurst, West Sussex
Job Type: Part-time, Permanent. This role is expected to be Monday to Thursday 9am to 3pm although some flexibility could be considered.
Pay: 22-30 per hour dependent on experience, based on a 24 hour week.
