Job Description

We're looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Accounts Payable Supervisor to join our Finance team. You'll be keen to hit the ground running, firstly gaining an in-depth knowledge of our processes and then moving on to overseeing the AP team. You'll be happy getting your hands dirty and mucking in with whatever problem needs solving that day and building a fantastic team around you. At SportPursuit, the AP team is the key initial investigator into stock invoice discrepancies and will push as hard as possible to resolve issues, drawing on other teams to assist where needed, whilst being the key driver.

Key responsibilities in this role:

1. Department management

Review KPIs to prioritise workload for the team of 3-4 people Management and development of team members Maintain a culture of high-quality outputs, which for us includes adhering to existing process guidelines, ensuring all invoices are captured in a timely fashion, and that all invoices are approved ready to be paid on time Find inefficient processes and make them better Foster a culture of continuous improvement through timely and direct feedback
2. Invoice approval expert

Resolve complex invoicing queries by investigating the issue and driving towards solutions Oversee the relationship with our biggest suppliers, stepping in to help resolve any issues if required Support the team in liaising with different departments within SportPursuit to approve invoices Act as a key contact for the Own Brand team to ensure we have visibility of upcoming orders and are able to make payments on time
3. Manage payment runs and cash management

Review all payment runs each week (2 per week) Monitor and forecast cash flow to ensure we have the right funds in the right currency for each payment run Monitor and forecast cash and Trade Finance balances to ensure we are making optimal use of facilities Maintain the Own Brand hedging schedule, liaising with the FC to ensure the required hedges are made at the correct time.
4. Wider finance team

Work within the Finance team to push forward departmental goals and make our Finance team a great place for everyone to work Assist with year end audit tasks which relate to Accounts Payable (e.g. supplier statement reconciliations and providing invoices for audit samples)

To be successful in this role you must have:

Experience supervising an AP team A strong understanding of stock invoices and matching them to ERP systems Experience of resolving discrepancies with stock invoices (i.e. responsible for solving the issue rather than passing onto another team) Intermediate level Excel (sumifs, index match) Strong written and verbal communication skills in English language Good organisation and prioritisation, with an ability to set and stick to tight deadlines

Nice to have but not essential:

AAT or equivalent accounting qualification

Salary:

35,000 - 40,000 per annum depending on experience
