To plan, deliver, and evaluate safe, progressive, and engaging coaching sessions in acrobatics, tumbling, or gymnastics. The coach will work with athletes of varying ages and abilities to develop strength, flexibility, balance, and technical skill, supporting participation, performance, and progression within the programme.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and assess structured training sessions in line with the organisation's coaching philosophy and national governing body guidelines.
Teach and demonstrate acrobatics, tumbling, and gymnastics techniques appropriate to participants' skill levels.
Develop individual and group training programmes, including warm-ups, conditioning, and skill progressions.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants through proper use of equipment, spotting, and risk assessment.
Provide constructive feedback and encourage athletes to reach their full potential.
Support athletes preparing for competitions, performances, or grading assessments.
Promote a positive, inclusive, and motivating training environment.
Maintain accurate attendance, performance, and progress records.
Ensure all sessions comply with health, safety, and safeguarding policies.
Communicate effectively with parents, athletes, and other coaches to support development and engagement.
Attend staff meetings, competitions, and professional development opportunities as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
Recognised coaching qualification in gymnastics, tumbling, or acrobatics (e.g., British Gymnastics Level 2 or equivalent).
Current First Aid and Safeguarding / Child Protection certification.
Experience coaching children, young people, or athletes in a structured sports or performance setting.
Strong knowledge of skill progressions, spotting techniques, and safe coaching practice.
Desirable:
Advanced coaching qualification (Level 3 or higher).
Experience preparing athletes for competitions, displays, or performance work.
Background in dance, cheerleading, or circus arts.
Qualifications in strength and conditioning or sports science.
