To plan, deliver, and evaluate high-quality acrobatics, tumbling, or gymnastics coaching sessions that promote technical excellence, physical development, and enjoyment. The role involves developing athletes' skills safely and effectively across various levels -- from beginners to advanced performers -- in line with governing body standards and the organization's coaching philosophy.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, progressive coaching sessions in acrobatics, tumbling, or gymnastics.
Demonstrate and teach correct technique, strength, and flexibility exercises.
Provide feedback to athletes to enhance skill development and performance.
Implement safe coaching practices, including appropriate spotting and matting techniques.
Design individual and group training programmes to support progression through skill levels or competition grades.
Support athletes' physical and mental well-being, fostering confidence and discipline.
Maintain accurate attendance, progress, and assessment records.
Prepare gymnasts or acrobatic groups for displays, competitions, or performances.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and safeguarding policies.
Communicate effectively with parents, athletes, and other coaches.
Contribute to the ongoing development of the club or school's gymnastics or acrobatics programme.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
Recognised coaching qualification in gymnastics, acrobatics, or tumbling (e.g. UKCC Level 2 or equivalent).
Current first aid and safeguarding training.
Experience coaching children, young people, or athletes in a structured setting.
Strong knowledge of gymnastics or acrobatics technique, progression, and safety.
Desirable:
Higher-level coaching qualification (Level 3 or above).
Experience preparing athletes for competition or performance.
Additional specialisms (e.g., choreography, flexibility training, aerial work).
Background in sports science, physical education, or dance.
