Guild Care, a respected not-for-profit charity, is looking for an experienced, engaging, and compassionate Health & Wellbeing Assistant to join our team at Haviland House, our specialist dementia-only home.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with older people, understands dementia, and has the confidence to engage a room, lead interaction, and create a positive atmosphere - without the pressure of planning activities alone.
? About the Role
Working closely with our Health & Wellbeing Coordinator, you'll help bring planned activities to life, ensuring residents feel involved, stimulated, and valued throughout the day.
Our residents all live with dementia, so we are looking for someone who can read the room, adapt their approach, and interact confidently with warmth, patience, and understanding.

Haviland House, Goring-by-Sea
? Hours
36 hrs per week (every other weekend)
About the role
? Your Role as a Health & Wellbeing Assistant
? Supporting Meaningful Activities
Support the delivery of a varied programme of group and one-to-one activities
Help lead sessions such as music, games, reminiscence, gentle movement, and creative activities
Encourage participation and enjoyment in a calm, inclusive way
? Dementia-Focused Engagement
Confidently interact with residents living with dementia
Manage group environments with reassurance, humour, and structure
Adapt communication styles to meet different cognitive and emotional needs
? Building Relationships
Develop positive, trusting relationships with residents and their families
Work closely with care staff and the Health & Wellbeing Coordinator
Contribute to a warm, lively, and supportive home environment
? Events & Community Life
Support celebrations, themed days, and special events
Assist with community visits and in-house experiences
Help prepare activity spaces and resources so sessions run safely and smoothly
? What We're Looking For
Experience working with older people (essential)
Experience supporting people living with dementia (preferred)
Confidence engaging and interacting with groups of residents
A warm, outgoing personality with the ability to create a positive atmosphere
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Reliability, organisation, and flexibility
? You do not need experience planning activity programmes - this role supports a dedicated Health & Wellbeing Coordinator.
