We are looking for an enthusiastic and Activities Co-Ordinator to join our Care team. Reporting to Registered Manager.

You will be working for the award-winning Care Home in the beautiful village of Otterton, near Budleigh Salterton - The Old Vicarage Care Home, rated 'Outstanding for Caring' by the CQC.

Other Roles This Interacts With:

You will work as a team with Kitchen Staff, Senior Care Assistants, Care Assistants, Housekeeping Staff, and Management, as well as the service users' families and other Professionals, providing an overall homely atmosphere for all our service users.

Purpose:



To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of service users in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence. To assist in organising and developing a programme of day to day activities of the home. Contribute to the inclusion of residents with disabilities and special care needs. Help residents with disabilities and special care needs to participate in the full range of activities and experiences. Support families responding to the residents' needs.

Main Responsibilities:



To organise and develop a programme of activities which promotes the mental and physical wellbeing of the service users within the home, according to their need, gender and abilities, through talking, reminiscence, taking them out, sharing their activities, reading, writing, hobbies, music and social events. To write our monthly Newsletters which are given to our service users and families. To undertake minor, general administration duties such as organising for potential services users and families to visit our home and conduct a walk about. Help service users with any mobility problems and other physical difficulties. Liaise with the service users' families by relaying information on each service user's participation in activities. Assist service users that need help with personal skills. Identify barriers to participation; take steps to remove these and support residents' participation and equality of access. Assist in the development of individual plans to meet each resident's needs. Identify and take steps to overcome barriers to communication. Identify and take steps to overcome barriers to participation in the full range of activities and experiences. Offer alternative activities if appropriate. Assist with feeding etc. under the close supervision and advice from the Senior Care Assistant on shift. Help care for service users who are receiving palliative care and support their family/friends in coping with the respectful process. - Training and guidance will be given. Liaise with the Senior Care Assistant over both physical and mental concerns regarding any of the service users. Greet visitors politely and offer a cup of tea once they have been shown to the person they have come to visit. Perform other duties as may reasonably be required such as driving residents to appointments and collecting shopping. Record all Activities on the Activity Interaction on each resident's timeline on Nourish. Take part in staff meetings, as well as service users' meetings and regular forums. Actively encourage family members and friends to participate in activities with residents. Support residents appropriately through transitions to ensure continuity of experiences. Attend Induction training when first employed and all mandatory training thereafter. Comply with the home's guidelines and policies and risk assessments at all times. To comply with the Home's guidelines and policies, Risk Assessments and COSHH Records at all times. Observe all Health and Safety Directives; report any equipment defects and hazards e.g. loose carpets etc. to Management/Housekeeper, depending on the severity of the hazard. A knowledge of legislation, regulations and codes of practice affecting provision for the elderly including DE needs within the UK. An understanding of dementia and other conditions that may affect the residents and your ability to provide a high-quality service Work with the team and liaise with the Housekeeper and other departments to decorate the home for seasonal events such as Christmas, Easter and our yearly Harvest. To be responsible for keeping our Social Media platforms maintained with recent pictures and videos of activities.

All staff are required to respect the confidentiality of all matters that they might learn during their employment. All staff must ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.

Pay: 14.25 per hour
