We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Activities Director to enhance the quality of life for our residents in an assisted living and nursing home environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, organising, and implementing engaging activities that cater to the interests and needs of seniors, including those with dementia and Alzheimer's care requirements. This role is vital in fostering a vibrant community atmosphere and promoting social interaction among residents.
Duties
Develop and implement a comprehensive activities programme tailored to the interests of residents, ensuring inclusivity for all abilities.
Coordinate and lead various activities such as arts and crafts, games, exercise classes, and outings.
Collaborate with caregiving staff to assess the individual needs of residents and adapt activities accordingly.
Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all participants during activities.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming events and encourage participation.
Document participation levels and feedback to continuously improve the activities programme.
Stay informed about best practices in senior care, dementia care, and Alzheimer's care to enhance programme offerings.
Qualifications
Previous experience in assisted living or nursing home settings is highly desirable.
Background in senior care or caregiving is essential, with specific experience in dementia and Alzheimer's care considered an asset.
Strong communication skills are required to engage effectively with residents, families, and team members.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
A creative mindset with a passion for enhancing the lives of seniors through meaningful activities.
