We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activity Coordinator to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our care home. The ideal candidate will have a passion for senior care, particularly in supporting individuals with dementia and other cognitive impairments. This role is pivotal in enhancing the quality of life for our residents through creative programming and effective communication.
Duties
Develop, implement, and oversee a diverse range of activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents, ensuring inclusivity and engagement.
Foster a warm and supportive environment that encourages participation from all residents, including those with dementia or other cognitive challenges.
Collaborate with care staff to assess residents' needs and preferences, adapting activities accordingly to promote well-being.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to ensure that all activities are well-coordinated and meet the individual needs of residents.
Organise special events, outings, and themed days that enhance community spirit within the care home.
Maintain accurate records of participation and feedback on activities to continually improve programming.
Ensure that all activities adhere to health and safety regulations within the care home setting.
Requirements
Previous experience in an activity coordination role within assisted living or senior care environments is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to connect with residents on a personal level.
A genuine interest in providing care for seniors, particularly those living with dementia or cognitive impairments.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated to initiate new ideas for resident engagement.
Creativity and resourcefulness in designing activities that cater to varied interests and abilities.
A caring attitude towards residents, demonstrating empathy and respect at all times.
