Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Activity Co-ordinator to join our team on ward 18 at Fairfield.



Ward 18 is a 22 bedded mixed sex ward, specialising in General Medicine, Frailty, and Dementia.



We are seeking someone who has social and creative skills, to work alongside the ward and therapy team to engage patients and support them on their recovery journey.



The aim of the role is to provide interventions, using recovery principles, in order to improve the service users journey, contributing positively to the emotional and psychological wellbeing of patients.



Work with members of the multi-disciplinary team and ward volunteers to prepare and implement social, leisure and recreational activities for patients.



Arrange individual activities for patients as appropriate.



Provide 1:1 social contact with patients according to the individual ability of the patient to participate.



Ensure there are a range of activities for patients, e.g. board games electronic games, music therapy, creative crafts and reading/observational materials.



Organise social events on the ward to include patients, relatives, staff and visitors.



Organise and arrange group activities for patients to promote social interaction.



Liaise with other outside agencies to provide support and advice on social activities.



Work with members of the team to ensure patients are up washed, dressed and nutritional needs have been met.
