WHAT TO EXPECT

As a Lead Measurement Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the AAD/ ADAS vehicle instrumentation, setup, data gathering, test data handling, hardware and software and pre-programmed vehicle operations.

You will be dealing with the technical design and delivery group, and you will be responsible for designing and making new hardware electronics and software systems and completing the development vehicle setup to deploy to pre-program and prototype vehicles.

The team requires an experienced engineer to help guide the software and hardware development and deployment across several vehicle platforms. You will become a key interface to the partner in delivering the fleet solution.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

The Assisted & Automated Driving V&V Enabler team, we are responsible for HW & SW tools used for the verification and validation of the next-generation ADAS and AAD features and functions. Definition, design, development, deployment, and support of all HW & SW Engineering tools required to ensure our customers receive world-class products. We are currently embarking on a major transformation aimed to keep JLR at the leading edge of the automotive industry. As we progress on this journey, we are currently looking to expand our team with talented and motivated developers and engineers that will help us equip the business with the world-class tools that they need to engineer our vehicles.

Support the design, development & build of prototype measurement systems

Supporting the integration of measurement systems into vehicles

Work closely with operational squads & partners to ensure their requirements & feedback are being captured & incorporated into future designs

Support commissioning, maintenance & continuous improvement of measurement system installations (on bench and in vehicle)

Support issue resolution effectively and efficiently

Support the testing of software tools & provide feedback to developers

Ensure safe operational conditions of data acquisition systems in prototype and production vehicles

Develop and deliver technical documentation, user manuals and training to our internal customers

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential -

A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a Computer Science-based subject

Experience in leading the integration of systems into vehicles

Experience in understanding & use of Automotive communication networks, CAN/ LIN/ 100Base-T1

Significant hands-on electrical/ mechanical build experience

Experience in using command-line software

Experience in writing and debugging scripts (Shell, Python, PowerShell)

Experience working in a Linux environment

Experience in creating and managing, integrating and build timing plans

A driving license valid in the UK

Desirable -

General and practical understanding of vehicle systems, especially electrics and electronics

CAD experience

12V circuit design experience

Software development experience

Experience working in an Agile environment

Working with test procedures/ verification methods

Rapid Prototype manufacturing knowledge
