Administration Assistant



Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre are looking to recruit a talented, enthusiastic, reliable and flexible Administration Assistant.

Set amongst the woodland of Dorset lays 65 acres of sanctuary for over 250 primates. Monkey World was set up in 1987 by Jim Cronin to provide abused Spanish beach chimps with a permanent, stable home. Today Monkey World works in conjunction with foreign governments from all over the world to stop the illegal smuggling of apes out of Africa and Asia. At the park visitors can see over 250 primates of more than 22 different species.

Duties to include but not limited to:



Using a variety of software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. to produce correspondence, documents, maintain records, spreadsheets and databases Sorting and distributing incoming post and organising and sending outgoing post Photocopying, printing and laminating documents Answering the phone and dealing with general enquiries Processing ticket requests and donation requests Replying to emails Filing Administration, of Primate Adoptions as well as providing cover and reception duties for the on-site adoption centre Responding to letters and emails as instructed Updating the Amazon wish list Ordering and maintaining stationery and equipment The above is intended as a guide and other duties and tasks will be included as instructed by the Office Manager

The ideal candidate would possess



A good knowledge of Microsoft packages, including intermediate Excel skills. A strong attention to detail. Quick learner and able to operate in a fast paced environment. Adaptable to changes when required, with a positive can-do attitude, especially when faced with challenges and time constraints. A confident communicator; written and verbal. Due to the very nature of our business, the successful candidate must have a mature and responsible attitude, be reliable, trustworthy and hardworking with the ability to respect and adhere to the strict rules of confidentiality that exist at the park. Due to the size (65 acres) and geography of the park, candidates must be physically fit with own transport required due to location.

The role is a full time, permanent position working 37.5 hours a week Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00 with an unpaid half an hour for lunch. Starting Salary 23,809.50 reviewed at the end of the 6 month probation period, paid monthly. 28 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays per annum. Employee Assistance Programme. Continued Personal Development, offered and encouraged subject to length of service.
