Be part of Horizons Academy, a brand new, state of the art special school opening in January 2026 in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. The purpose-built academy will meet the needs of children and young people from key stage 2 to 5 with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), along with autism spectrum conditions (ASC). The academy will accommodate 160 pupils aged 7 to 19.

We are looking for an Administration Assistant to start from September 2025 with an initial focus on assisting with outreach and transitional work prior to the academy opening. You will be based at Yeoman Park Academy for the Autumn Term.

The opportunity



This role is for an Administration Assistant to provide a variety of clerical and administrative support for Horizons Academy, working as part of the team supporting across our three special academies (Horizons Academy, Redgate Primary Academy and Yeoman Park Academy). The role will be based at Horizons Academy once the academy opens. The candidate will work alongside our Academy Business Leader/Team Leaders, the wider admin team, and will be an integral part of our successful academy.

As our academy is currently under construction, it is not possible to offer visits to the school. Visits can be arranged to Redgate Academy and Yeoman Park Academy, our two current special schools. We expect the construction to be completed in autumn 2025, ready to welcome the first students in January 2026.

The successful candidate will:


Be a key part of the student services providing a range of administrative services to support the students and staff within the academy. Work to defined standard business processes in performing a wide and varied range of administrative tasks having due regard to confidentiality and safeguarding. Help resolve issues to ensure that effective business and educational services are maintained. Have good planning, prioritisation and organisational skills Contribute to the provision of an effective environment for learning and prioritise tasks that support pupils. Support the promotion of positive relationships with parents, carers and external agencies. Support team members to ensure that quality, performance, standards and deadlines are achieved.

The successful candidate will be part of an organisation that is ambitious for its young people. Your role will play an important part in ensuring the smooth running of the administrative functions within the academy, alongside the Team Leader/business manager.
