Provide an efficient service for the reception of patients and their relatives and aid the smooth running of the pre-assessment department, assisting the clinical staff with non-clinical duties.
Providing support for clerical and administrative duties to the department and dealing with patient enquiries.
Provide an effective and efficient service for the reception of patients into the Pre-assessment department. Deal with enquiries from patients and relatives, medical staff and the general public.
Accurately record patients' details and enter on the Patient Administration System as necessary and amend accordingly.
Ensure all patient admissions and discharges are recorded accurately on PAS in a timely manner.
Prioritise patient appointments; ensuring patients do not breach the 18 week pathway or the 2 week pathway.
Ensure all data is completed in a timely manner.
Cancel appointments as required.
Liaise with IT department over problems with hardware / software.
Plan and organise workload, using initiative to prioritise tasks.
Recognise legality of patient documentation and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Locate patients' hospital notes by use of the case note system. Request or retrieve hospital notes as required. Track medical case notes.
Monitor and maintain stationery stock levels.
Make clinic appointments for patients and advise them accordingly.
Facilitate clinics held within the pre-assessment department; ensuring patients are booked in and out in a timely manner.
Liaise with ambulance control to arrange transport, advising patients accordingly.
Provide non-clinical advice to patients and relatives.
Assist in the management of the reception waiting are, keeping the area tidy.
Comply with infection prevention and control procedures at all time.
