Job Description

We are seeking a patient, tactful and diplomatic individual to play a lead role in the collection and processing of data relating to Admissions. They will be responsible for the conceptualisation, planning, organisation and evaluation of the College's outreach and widening participation activities.

The role also supports the Senior Admissions and Outreach Officer in administering undergraduate admissions and organising the College's outreach activities.

Key Responsibilities



Receive, process and monitor undergraduate applications, and application decisions using Camsis and other databases as appropriate. Assist the Senior Admissions and Outreach Officer with the organisation and administration of the admissions round, including interview week. Assist the Senior Admissions and Outreach Officer in the preparation of files for the inter-collegiate pool. Assist with the organisation and delivery of the College's Open Days. Communicate with applicants throughout the Admissions process, including informing them of the outcome of their applications, and respond to general admissions enquiries from offer holders and prospective applicants. Assist with the organisation of the College's outreach initiatives, including school visits and residentials. Take responsibility for the evaluation and analysis of the College's outreach initiatives and widening participation initiatives. Engage in systematic data collection and analysis in order to produce reports, statistics and other information that can be used in the development of the College's admissions and outreach strategies, and for the purposes of departmental planning. This should include data concerning the outcomes of students participating in various initiatives. Assist the Admissions Tutor in providing data to be used for producing reports to Education Committee, Council and other relevant College committees. Liaise with the Cambridge Admissions Office (CAO) and Schools' Liaison Officers in other Cambridge and Oxford colleges to ensure best practice and to identify opportunities for collaborative working. Engage in research with regard to best practice within Cambridge when it comes to targeting, selection and evaluation in relation to outreach initiatives. Undertake any other reasonable request or duties commensurate with the post. To fully comply with all the College's policies including equality of opportunity and data protection. The Person



An ideal candidate will demonstrate:

Knowledge & experience



Education to degree level or equivalent. Experience of working in a busy office environment. Experience in helping with undergraduate open days/school university visits or teaching experience. Previous administrative experience in an educational setting (desirable). A valid driving license (desirable). Familiarity with HEAT (desirable). Experience with evaluation in relation to outreach and widening participation (desirable). Experience with Microsoft Excel for producing large data-sets, graphs and tables (desirable). Experience with CAMSIS data entry (desirable).

Personal skills & abilities



Good office skills including computer skills and willingness to undertake digital skills training if and when required. Excellent written style suitable for high quality/sensitive email correspondence and for College print and online publication. Excellent judgement and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain professional at all times. Ability to communicate in a professional manner with a wide range of constituencies. Ability to deploy data analysis techniques in relation to Admissions data and statistics, and able to draw inferences from such data. Ability to work systematically and accurately, especially under pressure, as a member of the Tutorial team. Ability to cope with a varied and demanding workload, to prioritise effectively and to meet strict deadlines. Ability to work with and support others in a collaborative manner. Ability to make decisions on own initiative and to work with minimal supervision.

Remuneration and Benefits



Remuneration



The post is offered at a full-time equivalent salary of 36,059 - 40,370 per annum dependant on experience and ability. The post holder will join the College's auto-enrolment pension scheme with generous additional contribution options on completion of probationary period.

Hours of Work



Applications are invited from candidates who are interested in both part-time and full-time positions. It is envisioned that this role will require at least 22.5 hours per week, but anything up to 37.5 will be considered.

The post will be based at King's College, but subject to the demands of the role the post holder may be able to work from home for part of the week.

Benefits

Probationary Period/Notice



There will be a six-month probationary period. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, the notice period will be two months.
