In Swindon, children are at the heart of all we do.
We believe every child deserves someone in their corner, and every social worker deserves the trust and support to make that possible. We've worked hard over the last two years to improve our children's services, so families get the right help, and social workers get the trust, support and stability they deserve.
Our Family Safeguarding Model is at the heart of that change, bringing professionals together, focusing on relationships and early help, and helping families make lasting change.
There's still work to do, and that's why we're looking for people who aren't afraid to challenge, learn and make a real impact where it matters most.
Our Offer to You
At Swindon, we know that great social work happens when practitioners feel supported, valued, and trusted to do their best work. You'll be part of a team where managers prioritise your wellbeing and professional growth, and where we're working hard to ensure caseloads are balanced and your supervision is meaningful.
You'll collaborate with dedicated colleagues and partners across Swindon who share a common goal - making a real difference for children and families.
And because we understand that life outside work matters too, we offer true flexibility, helping you to find the balance that works for you.
In Return, We Offer:
Competitive, transparent salaries that recognise your experience and expertise
Relocation allowance of up to 8,000 (eligibility criteria apply)
Flexible working arrangements, built on trust and professional autonomy
Excellent benefits, including membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
Free parking, based outside of the town centre with easy access to the motorway and great transport links to surrounding areas
Free access to Research and Practice resources

About the role
The Disabled Children's Team is a dynamic and responsive team working with disabled children and their families. The service is responsible for all aspects of children's social work from assessment and analysis, through to long term planning. The team covers a wide range of children's social work including care proceedings, children who have involvement under the Mental Health Act, as well as child protection and children we care for.
The Disabled Children's Team is co-located at the Saltway Centre with multi-agency partners. This means that we can provide a holistic service to disabled children, young people and their families. We have created a service comprised of highly motivated and specialist social workers with experience in both safeguarding and disability in recognition of our most vulnerable children.
You will demonstrate professional leadership through the development of evidence-based practice within the team, supporting quality assurance through staff development, and providing supervision and guidance to newly qualified staff and non-social work staff.
About You
Your aspirations should be limitless, and you will be as determined and passionate about Children's Services as we are. As a local authority, we continuously drive forward improvements in our services. We want our Social Workers to be part of our transformation, contribute to improving the safeguarding of our children, and we will make sure you have the full support network and training to do it.
Our teams are ambitious and proactive, and we are looking for people who will share that ambition and be a part of our journey.
Candidates must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act - for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
Be Part of Our Journey
This is an exciting time to join us. We're delivering an ambitious transformation across Children's Services - improving practice, investing in our people, and building a culture where social workers can thrive.
We're changing for the better, and we're looking for passionate practitioners who want to be part of that change.
